JVAT—the crystallization of our
Management Philosophy—protects
culture and helps cultivate society

OceanTrading is engaged in an agricultural produce business that is highly unusual for a trading company. Japan Vietnam Agritech Farm Co.,Ltd. (JVAT), the local subsidiary we established in Vietnam, plays a central role to this end.

In our chrysanthemum cultivation project, we established a vast, in-housefarm of approximately 13 hectares in the highlands of Dalat. This was based on our desire to protect the traditional Japanese culture of chrysanthemums, which is facing severe production conditions due to aging domestic producers and a lack of successors. The quality of these chrysanthemums is the target of attention in the strict Japanese flower growing market.

We have also cultivated new agricultural land that was originally wilderness, constructed a seven-kilometer road, installed irrigation equipment, built greenhouses, and improved our equipment. In this way, we have made great efforts with local staff members through a series of trial and error in the entire process of growing each chrysanthemum.

But even with the best facilities and equipment, it is still people that actually administer this business. We believe human resource development is essential for local staff members, who have different cultures, values, and even senses of morality. The presidenthas personally engaged in communication to construct trusting relationships and develop human resources. In the future, we will form cooperative relationships with nearby farmers as well, and work to provide guidance on and highlight the benefits of Japanese growing technologies. We will make efforts to cultivate excellent producers, with the aim of bringing affluence to local communities and creating rich living environments. Our desire is to build communities that exceed the concept of in-house farms.

At present, we are also conducting business inmarine products. We are carrying out imports, exports, and wholesale sales of marine products under the name “SendoIchi” (“Freshness First”) in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. After we expanded into Vietnam we felt the fresh fish distribution infrastructure was insufficient, so we introduced a Japanese-standard temperature and hygiene management system in Vietnam. We hope to promote the wonderful qualities of fresh products, truly delicious sushi, and other fantastic items throughout the world.

In this way, the objectives of JVAT’s business include making social contributions by improving lifestyles vialocal job creation, achieving economic independence via the dissemination oftechnologies, and developing better food cultures, as well as socialcontribution activities rooted in the viewpoint of traditional Japanese cultural exchange. JVAT is not just an overseas production base; it is a culmination and project that embodies our corporate philosophy of “Benefits for Three Parties.” We will continue further development and contributions in the future while keeping these lofty goals in mind.
