We've started importing ASC-certified Fresh Fjord Trout from Norway.

Since October 2021, we have began importing and selling ASC-certified fresh Norwegian fjord trout (salmon trout) in Japan, and we are the first in Japan to handle this.

For the past 30 years, we have been working to develop air transport routes such as operating charter flights exclusively for salmon from Scandinavia to Japan, and have been engaged in the salmon import business together with Leroy Seafood Group, a major Norwegian salmon producer. In 2014, we became the first Japanese company to begin handling ASC-certified Atlantic salmon from Norway. Currently, the volume of fresh salmon we handle accounts for about 30% of Japan's total fresh salmon import volume.
In order to ensure the sustainability of marine resources, which is important to our business, we've set a goal of "increasing our handling volume of ASC certified fresh Norwegian salmon to 80% of our total sales by 2030" as one of our SDG goals. Handling "Norwegian ASC-certified fresh fjord trout" is one of our efforts to achieve this goal, and was made possible by retailers who agreed to carry ASC-certified products.

The salmon aquacultural producer, Leroy Seafood Group, is located in an environment where natural water from the mountains mixes with seawater, creating an ideal water quality and ocean current environment for aquaculture.
The water quality is regularly measured and health of the fish is monitored 24 hours a day to prevent diseases, and farming density is controlled to minimize stress on the fish. The fjord trout raised in such an excellent environment are transported to Japan by air cargo, as a chilled product, and delivered to customers in Japan in the best condition.
We have set our Sustainable-Development-Goals to continue to increase the ratio of ASC-certified products that we handle. With cooperation with our business partners, we will spread ASC-certified products throughout the industry to contribute to the development of sustainable marine resources.

Fjord trout has more fat than ordinary Atlantic salmon, and its flesh is bright orange in color with a rich taste. It can be eaten for Sashimi and many other various dishes.
